My Trip To Bhutan - Day 1

We arrived at Hashimara Station at 11.30 Am. The train had been delayed by an hour because of a derailment that had occurred, due to a heavy rain two days before our journey. Raju the Omni guy, who was waiting for us at Hashimara drove us straight to Phuentsoeling. At Phuentsoeling we got our permits to travel to Thimphu and Paro.

The two photos on top, within walking distance from Hotel Namgay, where we stopped while waiting for the formalities for our Permit to happen, could make one think that this is any small town in India.

 Here, the picture starts changing.

This is Uttam, a nephew of our friend, who had come to help us with our Visitors' Permits. He ended up helping us so much, that when a cop caught our driver talking while driving and took away his licence, Uttam stepped into the car and said "I'll drive you to Thimphu".

The roads are full of Zig Zag turns...

What the Boys are wearing are called 'Ghos" and what the Girls are wearing are called 'Kiras'
